Does anybody else have an irking friend? *raises hand* Yells, “I DO”!
To avoid being sued, let’s call her Cordelia. Cordelia is the friend that pushes ALL of the envelopes. She supports & encourages each of us – right wrong, or indifferent. She wants peace, but incites riots. She is not the friend that wants the smoke, she is the smoke (LOL). She means well, I promise!
Today, this happened:
I received a random DM from Cordelia with this quote (she frequently sends me inspiration, laughs, & prayers).

I read it like “huh?” I read it again. My mind moved quickly into rapid fire mode:
“What does this mean?”
“Why she send me this?”
“She telling me to write about it?”
“Is she okay? What she learn? Lord, What do I need to learn?”
“I thought I changed.”
“Man, she gets on my nerves. Psshh!”
One minute later, I responded with “Slaps You 😊”. The slap was because I got some news today that caught me by surprise, I couldn’t process the message. I had a mini-meltdown, but came up swinging (she doesn't know this). I learned that God was telling me that I had been disobedient. I hadn’t fully embraced the change…I picked up the thing He had told me to put down. UGH!!!! (He literally revealed this while I was writing this post. SMH.)
Another minute later, I send her a quote:

Irked because now I need to write about it and she got her way again (she held me accountable). I send another quote:

Cordelia says “You going deep. I’ll pass on that one.” I bust out laughing. I tell her, “You’re so irking. GO DEEPER”. She responds, “Nope. I like to stay afloat”.

I said, “IRK-ING!!! but you push me to go deeper…” This nut says, “Awe. Me not Dee right? I am just kidding”.
Classic Cordelia - avoid the topic with humor - encouraging, quick-witted, loves applause, rarely takes credit, takes nothing too seriously, fun, button pusher, and tip toes away, with blazing speed, from her own calling – pushing me out in the ocean without a life jacket.
Though she irks me, she has taught me how to swim…just irking.
